We have used them on & off several years.

Good for pavement, railway ballast, sandy or rocky footing. Slippery on
wet
grass, ice and mud. They promote foot rot and white line if you leave
them
on during wet - muddy weather.

We plan to use them on the hind for the OD ride, because they protrude out
the back, similar to an egg bar, protecting the heels. (Easyboots foamed
on
over aluminum for the front.)

The wear limitation was often nails pulling thru the urethane. Currently
(just started), we are trying 'Slimblade' #5 nails, which have a smaller
blade to head size ratio. On pavement they wear as well as steel. (I
think
it is because they grip and hold, rather than slide.)

I'm looking into getting the Ground Control Plastic horseshoes and was
wondering if anyone has used them and what are the pro's and con's to
using
them. They look like they might be stong and hold up well.

Every horse can be taught to walk faster than you think. It is one of the
most important qualities of a good riding horse. Some have it naturally,
others need to learn. On the other hand, if you are riding a tired horse,
an easy jog is more efficient, covers more groumnd with less effort. (it's
the rebound effect of the two beat trot)
