That is pretty much what I do, if he is not 'distracted' too much I can manuever him with just my legs ------but as we are working on his loooong neglected 'whoa', I think I'd have to wrap my legs around his head for that>VBG<

The one I'm riding now is very sensitive to leg cues as well.  But I can
still do the "bump thing" with him--I just have to whisper it.  It can be
as subtle as a tightening of your calf.
