[RC] Endurance as another form of addiction - goearth

Just returning from the Biltmore last week and not getting enough sleep and going out into the  world of Normal Folk to a Restraunt for Mothers Day, there seems to be another realm of being out there.  Some would order a Virgin Pina Colada and some want Heroin, and thats the extent of desire in this analogy.  A cool Chardonnay  seems to be where i want to exist, except on Saturday night when Long Island Tea will be a choice if offered.  If you don't want the down from Heroin, don't try it.  If you can't stand the depths of what happens when you fail at FEI, don't try it.  I was in a spot Lani Newcomb called 'Bad Luck City' because 1 of 6 finished.  To the left of us was a husband and wife on overweight quarter/ appy horses and they were too.  They finished the 50...beat and tired, but finished at the tail end.  Obviously happy beer drinkers.  Where do you exist and what are the goals?  To have a good time or be competitive?, you really can't have both, unless you are very special.  To sum up these random thoughts....FEI is Heroin.  LD is a Virgin Pina Colada.  MultiDays are a combination of everything.  100's are a Long Island Tea from a very big glass.  Camping and searching out new trail is your favorite white wine.  To those seeking something else..seek something else.  To everyone...Be Happy and find what suits you and don't let anyone dampen the party.  tom sites
