Heck, let your horse wear them, then when people ask you what the numbers are 
for, you can tell them about endurance riding.  Or, if your horse has recently 
dumped you or done something else stupid, you can say that you tried to sell 
him at an auction but couldn't get anyone to bid on him so are stuck with him.
