Fw: [RC] Old Macs-just 2 in front or all 4? - Mike & Kathy Kelly

Wearing them on just the front is fine IF your horse is comfortable.  In your situation I wouldn't go without carrying the hind boots with me in case they are needed.  It just depends on what your horse needs, and if this is his first extended trial ride (and on unfamiliar terrain) you just don't what he needs at this point.  BTW Old Macs makes a really nice cantle pack that holds 1 boot in each side pocket (where you would usually carry water).  If you do need all 4 boots your traction should be great as long as the boots aren't very worn or you aren't in mud.

I will be going on my horse's first extended trail ride soon.  Shoes are recommended.  I will be using Old Macs.  Someone said I'll need them only in front, but what is best?  I do have 2 pairs, front and back.  He was pretty antsy our first trail ride away from the property, so I don't look forward to piaffe in Old Macs.
