[RC] Letters Needed for New Trails - Mary Lynn/ Greg

The USFS has proposed expanding the non-motorized trail system in
the Morehead District of the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky by
between 100 and 200 miles (in addition to the existing 120 mile system).
Located less than ten miles off the interstate this area is within an
eight-hour drive of one third of the US population. There is a parallel
proposal to make other improvements to make this area the premier
equitourism destination of North America. Although thirteen federal, state
and local agencies have expressed support, there are some opponents. One of
their mantras has been that there are already enough trails available for
horseback riding and other non-motorized uses.

The USFS has officially requested that we send as many individual
letters as possible supporting expanding the trail system in the Morehead
District. Short letters on just this one subject are best! 1,000 letters
would be hard for the nay-sayers to argue with so spread the word. Send
E-mails to: Dave Manner at davemanner@xxxxxxx or mail a letter to: Dave
Manner, Morehead Ranger District, Hwy

One would think that logic would prevail. But then, if logic did prevail,
men would ride sidesaddle.
