[RC] Re; Bears Charging - Jim & Drin Becker

 Not =
pleasant! Anyone else have that happen and what would you do say if the =
bear was down wind and came out close to you. Obviously stay on your =
horse but would they give chase? I know they can run fast esp. down =
hill. I've worried about it allot so when Rene spooks now in the woods I =
listen cause it might be a bear instead of a deer or turkey....Sharon =

I had some good friends who were out riding in a national park one summer and they were chased down by a sow grizzly , didn't provoke it , no cubs they could see , it just came at them from out of nowhere . Chased them quite aways until the daughter fell off her horse as the horses were running out of control . The father then jumped off his horse and ran back at the sow which was standing over his daughter and started yelling like crazy and waving his arms , the sow dropped to all fours and ran into the woods .  Lucky people ! A black bear will charge people way  less often than a grizzly but when a black bear charges it usually means business .
