However, a car does not have two steel shoes about 4" across that can dig into the ground.  The digging in of horse hooves allows them to accelerate and decelerate faster than cars.  Also a car can not shift its center of gravity be lowering its rear end by a couple of feet during a stop, though the rear suspension on modern high performance cars is set up to prevent the front end from diving like cars of the '50's.
