Most TWH's CANNOT trot. 

I used to show walkers and I think they can all trot if they want to, or more 
likely when you don't want them too.    One of the horses I used to ride was a 
horse named Go Boy Sun's Mack and was one of the truest of the gaited horses I 
ever saw.    His owner showed him in combination driving/riding in local shows 
and taught him to trot on command.  She would just say "Mack, trot" and he 
would.  We all thought she was nuts and it would ruin him but it did not.  She 
eventually moved to Murfreesboro in the heart of the TWH country in Tennessee 
and showed him plantation pleasure there too and he did quite well.
