[RC] IntNewsGroup: FEI Approval of National Passport - Lori & Rick Stewart

National Passport is officially acceptable for FEI rides in the continental USA this year.  But we still need to make sure that FEI riders at 100 mile distance/3-star realize that they MUST have either an FEI or a National Passport.  The
"Coggins" descriptions and vet shot records are no longer valid for entry into FEI 3-star (OK for the 50 mile distance or 2-star)
The first thing a rider/owner needs to do is:
1) Get your horse Life Recorded with USEF (a requirement for either passport)
2) Make sure you, the rider, are current with your USEF dues and Discipline Fee.
3) Write to Lynn McCoy (lmccoy@xxxxxxxx) and have her send you the detailed info on how to do the diagram/written description of your horse.  READ IT CAREFULLY, and either do the picture/words yourself by the "book" or have a very knowledgeable vet do it.  Most passport applications are rejected because the wording or drawing in not exactly correct.  ALSO, ask Lynn to send you the National Passport application forms as soon as they are available!!  The cost for the NP is $50. Keep reminding them if you do not get it soon.
4) Get the two flu shots if you don't have them already and get the vet to keep track of the dates and batch numbers.
5) IF you are going to do more than two FEI rides this year, pay the new High Performance Fee of $200; otherwise, be prepared to pay the $50 per ride at check-in (PLEASE use a credit card if possible, so RMs can fax the forms back to USEF before you start the ride)
6) Know that you can always upgrade the National Passport to an FEI passport if you need to go to Canada or overseas by paying an additional $250.
7) Send in your membership information to Ride Management as soon as possible!!

Spread the word to any friends who are considering doing an FEI ride this spring; time is of the essence.
