[RC] [Guest] HORSES PASSING - Ridecamp Moderator

BELINDA ROMANUSKI BJROMANUSKI@xxxxxx
I ENJOY OUR HORSES VERY MUCH. ONE IS A RETIRED STANDARDBRED IN HIS EARLY 20'S. THESE HORSES HAVE TAKEN MY HUSBAND AND I OVER MANY MILES AND VARIOUS TERRAINS. MY STANDARDBRED WILL DIE ON OUR FARM, AND IF IN THE LAST DAYS HE IS SUFFERING, A BULLET WILL PROBABLY BE USED. I BOUGHT HIM AT AN AUCTION, I WAS BIDDING AGAINST A MEAT BUYER. SO WHATEVER THE END BRINGS, HIS LIFE HAS BEEN EXTENDED. BUT A GOOD RELIBLE HORSE ALSO DESERVES DIGNITY AND QUALITY OF LIFE. I COULDN'T BEAR TO SEE HIM SUFFER.

I ALSO HAVE A QUESTION TO POSE TO YOU ALL. WHO IS SUPPOSED TO RESCUE THE HORSES FROM THE RESCUERS. THERE IS A WOMAN NEAR ME WHO "RESCUES" HORSES. THEY ARE LEFT OUTSIDE 24/7, WITH NO SHELTER, NOT EVEN A ROOF TO GET OUT OF THE SNOW AND RAIN. IN THE SPRING TIME HER PLACE IS JUST A MUD HOLE. WE HAVE 5 HORSES IN PASTURE WITH ACCESS TO A LARGE AREA IN THE BACK OF THE BARN, MOST OF THE TIME THEY ARE OUT, BUT THEY HAVE A CHOICE. IF IT IS RAINING, OR REAL WINDY THEY DO GO INSIDE.

ANYADVICE ON WHO I COULD ALERT TO THE PLIGHT OF THESE HORSES?
