Re: [RC] [RC] Audio of Convention Seminars - Peggy Burgess

Susan:
Sorry, I don't think it sounds bitchy at all.  I think Ridecampers, AERC members,
and endurance riders in general are quite fortunate to have access to the wealth
of information provided willingly, not to mention free-of-charge.  In only one year
of reading ride camp, I have found a cheaper AND more effective worming rotation,
been given wonderful advice on transitioning a hard-keeper into the endurance
world by feeding beet pulp (I already knew about oil), obtained lots of pointers from
"competitors" for training, ride/vet check strategies, carrying food for the horse
between vet checks (this wouldn't happen in the show ring - unless I was paying
a trainer), have a mentor when my horse is ready for 100's, and the list goes on and
on!  Thank you SusanG, HeidiS, StaggN, LauraH, JimH and all the others who share
knowledge and expertise so freely!  Looking forward to meeting some of you at the
convention next month,
Peggy Burgess

>My suggestion would be for AERC to organize a professional video crew to tape
an entire days worth of seminars and make it available through AERC, with some
sort of minor royalty or consideration going to the speakers.  AERC pays very
little to obtain speakers, less than costs to even get there, and my math tells
me that it's a pretty major fundraiser for AERC (someone correct me if I'm
wrong).  That should at least be considered before it's assumed speakers won't
mind if their intellectual property is sold elsewhere without at least
permission.

I realize this sounds bitchy what with my being one of the Saturday speakers,
but is still an issue that needs to be aired.
