[RC] Olympic issue - ATDEES

In the latest Chronicle of the Horse, one of the top eventers was wrote an article about the movement to remove/reduce the eventing sport from the Olympics. He said that the dirty secret is that the risk of equine death was a major motivating factor for the push to remove the sport. The course designers recognized that they had to build easier courses than the world standard to avoid killing the weakest team's horses and riders. At an invitational event format you can ensure that only the best get in, at the Olympics every country has the right to try and field a team that meets basic standards. It is highly unlikely that the Olympics will consider taking endurance, reining probably has a better chance since it is cheaper to operate and rarely kills a horse. If the UAE ever hosts the Olympics it can put it in as a demo sport. Olympic participation would likely draw little attention to us except negative when something bad happens.
