Re: [RC] Portable corrals - superpat

Where are you? I am in Ashland, Oregon (Southern Oregon) and I have two sets of corrals that I will probably sell. I haven't used them in the past year or so and don't really miss them. I have been using the Hi Tie system and like it well enough. I really do prefer the corrals for the freedom to move around that they afford the horses but it is such a pleasure not to have to put them up or take them down. I also think that they may be a bit more subject to accidental injury if a bunch of horses got to running through camp. In seven years, I only had one accident and used the corrals as two seperate ones or combined for a larger enclosure. One of my horses (totally out of character) turned and for no apparent reason began kicking the other who fell into the panels and everything went flying. Damaged one of the panels but luckily, my horse was only temporarily out of commission so we did not get to ride that ride. That could have been a huge wreck but the gods must have been smiling on us that day.

Ps
If you decide to purchase a Hi Tie (Marlene Moss of Moss Rock endurance is a good person to get them from. She has been so easy to work with that I will send an extra monting unit to someone who purchases from her. Having an extra mount has allowed me and my friend to only purchase one Hi Tie system each and with an extra mount, (one on each side of the trailer) we can safely accomodate two horses on whatever rig we decide to take. I think my friend also has an extra one.

Subject: [RC] Portable corrals

I am about to invest in a new portable corral or high ties. Any insight? I usually haul two, sometimes three horses. What about safety of High Ties. Does anyone have experience with the different panel systems.
