[RC] gaited horses, pulses and stuff - Karen Williams

I ride a coming 5-year old Paso Fino and let me tell you .... his pulse
shoots up to 210 at the drop of a hat! Mostly at the beginning of a ride
when he's out by himself. He's pretty green so I'm hoping its just nerves.
Once out on the trail, his pulse goes down to a range that doesn't make me
want to faint. The funny thing is that without the heart monitor I'd never
know his pulse was so high. He doesn't act jumpy or high-strung at all --
he's just looking around and my watch is going beep beep beep
beep................. and not a cannon in sight.

a paso fino that can match that. both of these horses have a
resting rate of 30-32. and i want to know how the heck do you get a
horse's pulse up to 210? shoot them out of a cannon? more later, i
promise!
