[RC] Drug Testing - Karen

Reports on rides that have been drug tested appear in Endurance News on a regular basis. The State of California drug tests a lot of rides there, they are at almost every ride I've been to in California. In California, it is LEGAL to have 2 grams of bute in your horse. The drug testing lady told me one time that so long as the results do not exceed what is legal in the state of California, that they would not be reported to the AERC. California does not have a zero drug policy. The last ride I was at that was drug tested by AERC was Steph's Owyhee ride. As a rider, I feel that the current drug policy is totally worthless. From what I have seen at any testing AERC has done, they only test the top ten horses by a random drawing. So anybody knows they only have to finish in 11th place or farther back to avoid being tested, and the riders do know this.
