Re: [RC] Small old horses and riders - Joan Ruprecht

This is a me too !

I have over 13,000 AERC.  and am 5.3 and 68 plus.

My horses have 6,300,(14.2)  5,100 (14.2) and 2,150(14.3).
The last I started at 16 she is now 22, the other two were started by me as 5 year olds and are now 25. and 18.  Since I am nearly 69 (5.3), we are a great match. (I did not start until I was 43.  I am also small, we are all feather weights.  None of us were bred for endurance, we just like the game.

Subject: [RC] Small Horses

I was SO happy to see this thread on RideCamp.  My up and coming endurance horse is a 4 year old purebred that is pushing 14'1 hands.  Both his sire and dam are small, too -- but his dam  has over 2,000 AERC miles and sire has over 5,000 AERC miles.

After putting up with my farrier's ridicule over my gelding's short stature ("He's never going to be big enough for you to ride!"), it is refreshing to hear that I'm not the only one who enjoys small horses!
