[RC] re: GPS question (GPS II+) - AprJhn

Hi, Rae,

I totally understand wanting to upgrade. :-) BUT, if you're looking for an
inexpensive solution, check out this eBay auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4668&item=3006138687

The auction is for a data cable for your current GPS. Buy that, plug into your
GPS, plug into the computer, open program, download points. Lots of free and
pay programs to do this.

National Geographic topo maps (about $100/state), Topo USA ($100 for US),
Waypoint+ (free), EasyGPS (free), ExpertGPS (~$60, has capability to download
satellite photos), USA Photo Map (free, primary use is to download satellite
photos with your track overlaid, very cool!).

You can also get an external antenna (to mount on your helmet or elsewhere) for
your GPS II+ from eBay for around $23.

About the auction. No I don't get anything for pointing you to that seller. My
husband and I have bought several things from that seller and have been happy
with the quality of goods and service.

Ok, I'm getting confused looking at all the GPS models and would like some
help. I currently have a Garmin II plus, which is basic speed/distance and
creates a bread crumb track of where I've been. I want to upgrade. I want
something that has the capability to download the track created as I ride to
the computer so that I can print maps of the trails. Any suggestions as to
which model would best suit my needs?
