My daughter had a registered Quarter Horse gelding that 'singlefooted'.  A
really nice gait -- comfortable and can cover distances for hours.  Only
problem, difficult to get a singlefooter to flat out walk.  Max was a nice
gelding but Becky eventually sold him because she works cattle and
'singlefooting' wasn't to good of a trait for working cows in a pen or
corral.

highly valued trait among the early cowboys because it's so comfortable.

the odd quarter horse that will show the trait and I don't doubt that it's

recessive trait from the TB or Arab bloodlines. Sounds like a keeper, to
