[RC] Temperature at vet checks - Dot Wiggins

The long ago rides used to take temps as well as pulse and respiration
numbers. (TPRs) I don't remember reading why this was discontinued. Before
I started endurance.
I've only seen this tried at one or two rides (in fact they decided to drop
the temp check at the pre-ride I entered because many horses were
uncooperative) since the early '80s.

Is there any feeling by today's vets that there is any knowledge about the
horse's condition to be gained by temp readings during hard work?
Could this be another tool to indicate an impending problem?
