[RC] Shavings in Trailers - E.L. Ashbach

Was reading back a couple of Ridecamp-Ds ago and wanted to comment on shavings in trailers:

Shavings do not, IME, improve anything for the horse in the trailer. They blow around, and are slippery once wet.

To improve footing, absorb moisture, and control airborne particles, use unscented kitty litter, or mechanics (clay) oil absorbent material. It's amazing how well this works in the horse trailer.

This tip I learned from Monte Mitts... Nancy, please let him know again, I say "thanks!"

Lisa Ashbach
