RE: [RC] another proposal - Bob Morris

Jim:

Please read the proposal once more. It states ....? 1)Those
who are permitted to continue for placing, and
? 2) Those who are permitted to continue for completion.

At every vet check, in order to continue to compete for a
placing, your horse must recover to pulse parameters within
15 minutes. If your horse recovers after 15 minutes but
before 30 minutes you may continue for completion only. If
it takes longer than 30 minutes for your horse to recover,
your horse will be eliminated from the competition entirely.
At the finish, your horse must recover within 15 minutes in
order to get a placing. Between 15 and 30 minutes, your
horse is eligible for completion only and longer than 30
minutes and your horse will be eliminated from the
competition

If you exceed the 15 minutes then you get completion only.
COMPLETION ONLY!! No points, mileage only. This excludes you
from any points awards for that ride. No weight division
points. COMPLETION ONLY!!!

You state <<<Matthew's proposal does not apply to weight
divisions>>> Please indicate where this is stated.

Jim - your comment regarding Top Ten and points is not
quite true. You say:
"Keep in mind that if you
are not in the Top Ten, then AERC points are the same,
whether you are
11th or 101st. "

On the contrary, all of the Regional points awards are
based upon weight
division points, not overall points. If a rider is
concerned about Regional
awards, then overall Top Ten is arbitrary.

Guess I'm confused. As I understand it, Matthew's proposal
does not
apply to weight divisions. You could race all you want
within your
weight division.

Are you saying that being say "1st Lighweight" and 5th place
overall at
a ride would me more regional points than being "1st
Lightweight" and
11th place overall? That was not the way I understood that
it worked.

Here's my proposal: (and I really mean this)
Let's completely abolish the current point system.

Let's get rid of the points system. Let each day, each
ride/race, be the
only determining factor for how we ride and what we ask of
our horses.

Steph

I would agree to that.....but IMHO, too "radical" a change
to get that
through the BoD. You and I would never live to see it. I
assume your
proposal would not eliminate the awards associted with the
"many miles,
one horse" awards....just the points awards.
