If I couldn't meet criteria for 15 minutes, I'd pull - unless I was
completing - in which case, I'd be really worried about my horse. IMHO, if
it took 20-25 minutes, you went too fast that day. The horse might have
been
fine that time, but you might have dodged a bullet.

Shoot, David, on Day 2 at Owyhee Canyonlands (the day I rode the first 40
miles with you) my horse recovered in about 8 minutes instead of his usual 4
or 5 minutes, and coupled with a lackluster appetite, I figured that was
time to let you "faster" folks (who finished about 3/4 of the way down the
list) go on without me, and spend extra time at the check, and finish
last...  <g>  I agree--those slower recoveries are a major cause for
concern!
