RE: [RC] RC: Straight in the hocks - DESERTRYDR1

A horse that is straight in the hocks is going to put more stress on the hock 
joint than one that has better angulation.  Watch for any signs of soreness, 
including not wanting to go down hills.  Condition carefully with some 
caveletti work to build the muscle in the rear end.  Watch also the stifle, as 
a 
straight hock usually means a straight stifle, which may be prone to popping 
out.  
Again caveletti work and careful conditioning helps the stifle.  Probably 
doesn't hurt to put the horse on a maintenance dose of a joint supplement.  jeri
