[RC] [Guest] Mustangs - Ridecamp Moderator

Doris Roesch bliss@xxxxxxxxxxx
My opinion about mustangs. I own and operate an Outfitting business in the Rocky Mountains. Over the years I have adopted 15 mustangs of varying ages from the BLM. Most of them came from the Riverton Prison Program.(Wyoming)The horses all worked out great. We ride all of them. Still own all of them too. Two years ago I adopted a three year old gelding from Riverton on a Saturday in August. We put front shoes on him on Sunday, ponied him into the high country the following monday and rode him on a day trip on tuesday. My 9 year old grand daughter claims this horse, named him Trigger. She insisted on riding him on the next day. I relactently said okay. I ponied her for a few miles, then upon her insistance let hime go. She has been riding him ever since. Almost Daily. We never had a bad experience with any of the mustangs. My 5 year old grand daughter picked her own Mustang also in Riverton. He is three years old and her best buddy.
Check out the Riverton Wy. website. www.adoptahorse.blm.gov Currently, over 40 broke horses are available.
I use Arabians for Endurance riding. The only reason I do not campain a Mustang is that I have too many Arabians to ride.
Happy trails Doris
