[RC] [Guest] Mustang Population - Ridecamp Moderator

jeanne pepper pepperja@xxxxxxxxx
This is tough because we don't all know each other and assumptions can lead us in the wrong direction. Deanna,I'm not a romantic on the subject and my complaint on shooting the mustangs comes from the history of some folks in Nevada who take the problem in their own hands and have shot at (mostly just causing painful wounds)and chased the horses with ATVS over cliffs to kill them. A quick, clean kill with a bullet to the head doesn't bother me at all.Unfortunately, this is seldom the case.I included my short list of mustangs who'ved excelled in endurance just because I knew others would jump in and add more and because I think those who might not think of a mustang when they're thinking of looking for a "prospect" might be encouraged to check one out.Of course conformation and suitabilty is the bottom line and there are great endurance horses from nearly all breeds.Just don't write off a mustang. After 25 years in this sport(and yeh,by everyone's definination I'm a REAL endurance rider...but we won't go there here!)and having ridden almost all arabs,I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter with my mustang in 3 years.Always the optomist!Love this sport!
