[RC] western fenders - rides2farThe Big Horn Saddlery here in Chattanooga sells all that stuff, but only to dealers. A dealer (anyone who sells Big Horn Saddles (Sportack?) can phone the order in for you. You can get just the leathers and have them reattached to your old fender which would be cheaper. The leathers come in leather or nylon now in various widths. Make sure you go for the narrow ones (1.5 or 2" I think). They have some killer 3" wide ones that would never turn. :-P The buckles are flat, (forget the name for them) with that little metal sleeve over them. If you put them on your saddle first, then slide the buckle to the optimum place not to bother your horse *then* mark where you want the fender attached you can be sure that everything's adjusted right for you. Angie I have an old western saddle (Tex Tan) that needs new fenders. Where would I look for those? I can find English stirrup leathers everywhere, but no western fenders. I don't really want the whole fender - just the English equivalent of the leathers, the part that the stirrups actually hang from. The buckles on the "original equipment" are rubbing my horse's side, and will leave raw spots if I ride very far. I thought about sheepskin sleeves to cover them, but I really don't want that kind of bulk under my leg. Any other suggestions? Maybe a shaped saddle pad that comes down on his side further? Thanks for any suggestions. Kris in Idaho =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
