The finding that at least one colicing endurance horse died of a ruptured
stomach shows what good can come from a necropsy.  I have decided that if
any of my horses colic at a ride again:

1. I will not allow fluids by stomach tube.
2. Have one inserted to relieve pressure if the gut seems to be completely
shut down.

I suspect that if this were to be standard treatment procedure, some deaths
could be prevented.
