Re: [RC] Fires Calif. update - Lynne Glazer

Ingalls Park in Norco is an evac site, Beth. The fires weren't in Norco, they were north of there in Ontario/Mira Loma, and weren't that big. I-15 to 6th, left to the end of 6th. They've put in two new lights, at the end of the street.

The San Diego county stuff isn't getting much coverage (so far)on LA stations, it's affected Ramona/Poway, Valley Center, to the Mex. border. I have second-hand info that a list member's house has burnt. :-( but they got out with their horses and critters. My brother's business up in the high part of Poway, all of the canyons around there are completely burned. Schools closed in Poway tomorrow. They moved the SD Chargers to Tempe AZ! My brother's closed his business for tomorrow. Miramar flight control is closed because the fire jumped I-15, about 14 lanes wide--unbelievable. I think this are the worst fires in my lifetime and it's only the beginning of the Santa Ana season.

Last night was completely spooky, watching the fire march across the base of the foothills, smoky inside the house, ash blown around the windows into the house and garage--and the closest fire is 15 miles at least. It was weird doing saddle fitting in Malibu today (what, 80 miles away?), which should have been cool and gorgeous, was hot with falling ash and winds.

I'm hoping that Tiff is ok, once I heard they were using the Alta Loma eq center for evac, I figured she didn't get burned. She's pretty close to I-10. Blayne's place in Ramona is ok, and Elfta and Patty have been evac'ing horses all day for others.

If anyone knows anybody at Cal Poly that we could call in the event that we need to evacuate, that would be very helpful .? I have a ranch about a mile from here, but the way this particular fire has been acting...with the winds and stuff, it could be dangerous at that ranch too. It would be better to be farther away, if need be. The humidity here is incredibly low, it was 9% and the horse's tails are sticking out electric! Somebody send us some humidity!!? You'all in the south! Send humidity!? Any ranches south of the 10 freeway, that could take horses, if you give us contact information to keep in case we need it, that would be great. We heard that there were fires in Norco, so we didn't contact friends there.

Thanks for any help, and all prayers.

Beth Glover (and to think I was gonna ask if it was?okay to exercise?my horse in light smoke.....)
