[RC] A&M feed - Jonni Jewell

Had never heard the phrase Alfmo for Alfalfa & Molasses. We always called it
A&M growing up. If someone had a thin horse, we told them to get a bag of
A&M, and dump the whole thing in the horses feeder, and let them eat it
freely. (on top of feeding normal hay rations) Amazing how our thinking has
changed in the past 25 years.....but it did put weight on them.

For those who have never seen A&M, it kind of looks like mulch. The ground
up alfalfa before it is made into pellets or little cubes. Then, molasses is
added, and it comes out of the bag as a semi-soft, fluffy mulch looking feed
that horses loved! I have since heard some feed mills in California make
O&M, which was Oat hay instead of the Alfalfa, but I have never seen the
feed myself.
