[RC] mulberries - Scott Johnson

Does anybody have experience with mulberries and horses eating them? I have a huge mulberry tree in my corral, which adjoins the pasture. Unfortunately, it drops fruit from spring until about now, roughly 6 months of the year. I block off the area because the horses love the berries and I don't want them to get sick from eating too many. At some point our weather here in the central valley of CA will hopefully cool down and we'll get some rain. The way to the overhang for the horses is via the mulberry tree. Right now the berries that have dropped all summer long are all over the ground and are kind of dried up. I let the horses in to see if they would eat them and of course they did. Am I being paranoid to think they will get sick form eating too many?
