Farriers may also Charge by your 'status'. My farrier is a real character, excellent has even repaired for the univeristy for other farriers, .He went to the Oklahoma school. He charges us 55.00 for shoes all way round (steel). 35.00 for fronts and trims .20.00 to just trim. BUT he charges some people, he says , depending on their income 100.00 for shoes. Atlanta metro. I just put aluminum NB shoes on the front and steel shoes on the back of
2 of my horses.

I would say Alabama is probably one of the lowest "cost of living" places in
the country and the set of shoes cost me $85. I'm AMAZED that ANYWHERE in
California you can get a set of the same shoes for $90. I've paid more than
that here, and California's cost of living is HUGE in comparison to Alabama.

I'd be grateful and gladly pay him his $90 if he's doing a good job. The
farrier I used for about 10 years charges $90 for 4 steel shoes!
