Re: [RC] looking for recommendations on riding vacation - Bonnie Davis

Disagree, Angie.

My husband, Den, and I have been married 40 years. We do a lot together and
have interests apart. I don't want him to have a boat or plane or anything
but a horse. If he likes the horse, he won't want to 'sell the horses' when
times get tight. Even now since he's had a stroke and as the rehab,
medical, doctor bills are eating us alive, he keeps telling me "to keep the
horses." So far, we've sold a car, remortgaged the house and disconnected
cable....

husband does not ride, and wants to spend time with me on the
weekends, The best way to do this would be to
take him trail riding

Sounds like a lot of trouble to me. I'd get him a boat and get him hooked
on fishing. He'll be the envy of all the other guys whose wives gripe at
them for being gone.

If you've *got* to get him started, don't put him on one of *your*
horses. I've seen lots of trouble between spouses over that and though I
didn't really have *trouble* when Bill rode, we got along much better
when he rode a horse of his own. That way I wasn't constantly telling him
how I wanted him to ride *my* horse. If you're in the area, Big South
Fork has tons of horsey pack outfits, bed & breakfasts, etc....but I
highly recommend the boat instead.
