[RC] 100s - Larry Miller

I did my last 100 in 1991. As I was coming into the 75 mile check, all I
could think of was why are you doing this to your body!! I was 51 at the
time. I applaud anyone who does a 100. They are tough on the rider and the
horse. Everything hurts and your horse thinks you are crazy. BUT when you
are done, there is a great feeling of accomplishment. I distance ride
because I love to ride, I love having a well conditioned horse, but above
all, the whole experience is supposed to be fun. When it is no longer fun,
then I quit doing it. I am not into punishment to prove a point. I may not
be doing 50s anymore unless someone can develop a pain pill that allows no
pain to come thru!! If I am limited to doing 15 mile novices, so be it. At
least I am still coming to trail camp, I am still seeing old friends and
making new ones, and I am STILL riding. Jeanie
