Re: [RC] 100 Milers - Barbara H-B

Now, isn't that interesting!! No wonder there are fewer 100 milers! I put on a 100 miler and have for 10 years or so, each year saying that I'll never do that again (we only have 6 to 10 entries in the 100) and each year I put it on again. For me it is the challenge of putting it on successfully, my wish to provide a challenge to riders to move up to 100's, using the greatest trail I know of and showing it to others! When I started in endurance in the 80's my goal was the 100's......took me 5 years to do my first (on a borrowed horse at an FEI ride) then I went on to do more with my amazing mare. I had confidence in her and the challenge was there for me. We did really well!
Now I'm bringing on another horse who has a really great reputation as a BC or DQ! Tried the Oregon 100 on him but was pulled for a popped curb. Not used to the sand. Maybe this year!
I try to always encourage other riders to do my 100 and not just because I want more entries but because I want them to experience all those great 100 mile moments!
Don't know what the solution is to up the participation but Rainbow will always be there as far as I am concerned!

Anybody noticed AERC gives top 10 jackets in every region for 25 milers,
but not 100s?
