Angie reminded me that I should have also added "shoeing" in the part about
the rider doing his/her homework.  Yep, she's right.

And she also pointed out that a fourth aspect of the rider part of the
equation is equitation.  A poor rider that is causing the horse to throw his
head up and hollow his back can really stress and screw up even the best of
horses.

She also mentioned another interesting consideration--in order to ride the
same horse for 10 years, you have to KEEP him!
