[RC] [Guest] Howard and War Cry - Ridecamp Moderator

Karen Nelson knelson@xxxxxxxxxx
Howard- It is scary every time we even look at them in the pasture being silly. What part of our glass horses will break next? The possible examples will grow expotentially, and drive you nuts.
Care, try to be aware, keep the usual pasture enemies from lurking as much as possible, and then try to remember that these creatures give us more than we give them sometimes.
As for the rash of colics when it seems nothing should have happened: A very smart vet I knew in So Cal,(Marta, I miss you), said that every time the weather changed and a low pressure system came around, she was sure to be up for 48+ hours straight working on colics. She thought the change in air pressure literally gave some horses a mild or worse case of the bends (colic) like divers get when they surface too fast.
I would be interested in any vets lurking here on RideCamp if they have witnessed the same thing when there is a change in the weather from nice to a drop in barometric pressure. Karen
