I don't think treatment "rate" is as relevant as what the treatment is and the reasoning for it. High profile races attract more horses & riders from a greater distance. This plays into the decision as to whether it's okay to wait for a horse to rehydrate himself or help them along with fluids. If nothing else perhaps Darolyn's letter will make people think twice about equating tubing fluids with a fast, easy, big drink of water to get the horse back on the road quicker. (I AM NOT saying that's what was being done in her case, but I have heard that type of attitude expressed by others.)

What I would be more interested in is the treatment rate for horses in high profile 'races' compaired to just normal 100 mi 'rides' Annie G.
