Re: [RC] Dr. Frazier's 03 PAC speech - Maggie Mieske

A 90% completion rate is wonderful if all we are looking at are pulls.  We aren't talking about "pulls" we are talking about "deaths" in comparison (plural).  Ms. Anderson is a braver woman than I!  I don't know how Dr. Frazier arrives at his conclusions but he was right, wasn't he?  I think it's valid to consider why 88 horses are still alive and one is not.
Miles of smiles,

His prediction that 1 of 89 starters would die was based on what specific set of statistics?  Elite 100 mile rides U.S. based?  All 100 mile rides over x # of years?
Is there a correlation between ride prestige and higher death rate than in overall rides?
Ms. Anderson, might be fair to add Ms. Butler-Dial's completion rate over all those miles is better than 90%.
