[RC] Stopping at water (was:trail etiquette question) - Jonni Jewell

MY personal attitude about trail etiquette at water stops is not that we
all wait for the other horses to drink, but exactly the opposite. If my
horse isn't drinking, I need to get out of the way. And if your horse isn't
drinking, the polite thing for you to do is to get your horse out of the
way. So yeah, that means, get on down the trail.<<<

Funny, I did not realize to get out of the way for another horse to drink
meant you had to "get on down the trail". Shoot, I found that I can clear
the water source and still be polite and wait a couple horses lengths or so
away.

if I want those other riders to wait while my horse drinks, I will ask
them to....and if people want me to stay while their horse drinks, then they
can ask me to.<<<

I figure I will ask THEM if they would like me to wait. Now of course, if it
is a water spot, with more than just my horse and one other, and horses are
coming and going, it makes things easier on horses who feel the need for
company when they drink....just like some people I have met over the
years...they don't like to drink alone. LOL

Jonni Who drinks alone all the time.....diet coke, Mt. Dew, Iced tea.....Oh,
and the hard stuff...Red Bull
