[RC] hypothetical trail etiquette question - SamahaArabians

Dear ridecampers,
I'd like to pose a hypothetical question to you all regarding trail etiquette...
On trail, when riding in a group, it is polite and correct etiquette to wait at water for other horses to drink.  I am talking about puddles and streams, etc.  We all do that.  Most of us anyway.  No doubt about that, is there?
Now, if someone catches up with you on the trail or you somehow end up riding with others regardless of who does the catching up and they ask you to wait at THEIR crew stop so their horses can drink (even if they offer you water, too) but YOUR crew is waiting up ahead at a different spot and you want to go on, are you obligated (by courtesy, of course, not rules) to stop and wait or is it perfectly ok to continue ahead to your OWN crew stop?
It seems to me if someone is drafting off of your horse's energy, this would be a perfectly acceptable way of breaking that off without committing a breach of trail etiquette.  It sounds like ride strategy to me.  I am interested in what ridecampers opinions are.  Obviously this is something we have had happen to us this year and am curious what others think.
I have not been online much lately and am having trouble switching my e-mail address.  So, if you have posted on ridecamp hoping I would read it, I probably haven't!  Sorry!  :)  Please e-mail me privately at mmieske@xxxxxxxxxxxxx.  THANKS!!!!
Miles of smiles,
Maggie
