[RC] Question for SUSAN GARLINGHOUSE DVM! (Feeding a weanling) - Lra1222

Hi. I just purchased a weanling Arabian colt. He will be coming home at the
end of this month, and I am beginning the search for what to feed him. I am
currently looking at "Manna Pro SuperHorse Broodmare and Foal Developer" or
"Purina Equine Junior." I use Manna Pro feeds for my other 2 horses and have
been
happy with the quality, but I don't know about the junior feeds. The colt will
be getting a really good quality coastal bermuda hay, loose white salt, and
water. What else should I know about feeding a weanling? I don't want him to
grow too fast and end up with joint/bone problems, nor do I want him to be
deprived of anything. I also don't want to end up with 5 different feed
containers
in the feed room for one little horse!! I have so many questions! (SORRY...)
Should I also supplement with a little alfalfa hay, or will the feed and
bermuda
be enough? We DO NOT have pasture. They are outside, though, with a large
pile of hay morning and evening. I guess, what I'm trying to ask ('bout time,
huh?) is "What are your recommendations for feeding a weanling? Thanks in
advance
for your help.

P.S.- My horses thank you for your info on beet pulp!!
