Re: [RC] unidentiable skin owie - SABRINA KOHOUTEK

If it's where I think it is, It's from rolling on hard dirt and being slightly underweight. Is it on the side of the rump where the hip bone sticks out just a tad?  My horse got that on each hip when he was a tad underweight.  Since I've been able to pack the weigh back on him it's gotten much better.  Just a little scar now.  I just kept it clean and put some ointment on it to keep it moist and clean.  If we are talking about the same thing, I wouldn't worry.  It hasn't posed a problem for us.  Just keep feeding him!!

Subject: [RC] unidentiable skin owie

Good morning!

Was hoping someone at RideCamp might recognize a weird skin patch that showed up on my daughter's horse. She just recently moved to Fresno and emailed me a picture yesterday. She hadn't been to see the horse in several days and it's king of ugly. Doesn't look like a kick or bite (he's in with one other horse). It's about 2 inches in diameter, right at the top of the hip bone. I need to know whether we need to call a vet. We haven't found one for her yet since she just got there a month ago.

Thanks,
:) Jackie
