Some one mentioned rasping Ground Control.  That's what my farrier did, but 
as there was quite a bit of rasping to do, I looked at her and asked "Why 
don't you use your nippers."  So she did and it worked.  To be safe she did 
nip close to where the shoe needed to be, and then rasped the rest.  I like 
to leave a rim for support.  Grinding works if you have one.
