RE: [RC] How much flax seed to feed? - Stewart, Carrie

First of all, I grind my flax seed in my blender. It helps the horse to
benefit from all the good Omegas in the flax and it makes the flax last
longer. A regular blender can handle a cup of flax seed at a time. I
do a large coffee can at one time and store in the refrigerator. To
help with itching, I would suggest 1/3 to 1/2 cup per day. I
maintenance mine all on 1/4 to 1/3 cup and you can adjust yours once the
itching is under control.
Flax is wonderful stuff and a little goes a long way.

Subject: [RC] How much flax seed to feed?

How much flax seed should be fed to horses to help with itching? I got
a bag hoping to find instructions on it, but there aren't any. Also, I
saw that someone asked about Ivermectin- and I had the same question.
To help with itching horses can be wormed with ivermectin right? Not
applied locally? I know that there is a recipe for scratches that calls
=

for one of the wormers to be mixed with other ingredients and applied as
=

an ointment, so hopefully this isn't such a stupid question!
