Re: [RC] Enjoy the traveling part - Barbara McCrary

What a beautiful story! This is kindness at its best and it's wonderful to
know that there are still people in the world who are like this. It's
probably more prevalent in the country because we don't have support
services at the nearest telephone and it's neighbor for neighbor help. A
story like this warms the heart.

Was starting to think I might have to
ride my horse into town to get gas. Now wouldn't that be a picture for
EN.

That is exactly what I had to do once. I ran out of gas, with horse in
tow
on a 4 lane highway in Oklahoma. I sat there for a little while, with
flashers on, waiting for a trooper or another horse person to stop and
help.
But no one did. So I got my horse out and saddled him up and rode down to
the nearest exit. You can't imagine how much trash and blowing stuff
there
is on highways, until you worry about whether you horse (an Arab) is going
to shy at it. I got off at the exit and then went down the road to the
first farm and asked for help. The people were lovely and so intrigued
that
I had ridden my horse down the highway to get help. So we put my horse in
their barn, they had gas and a gas can, and they drove my back to my truck
to put in the gas. Then I followed them back to their house to get my
horse. They insisted I eat and packed me a lunch to take with me. We
still exchange Christmas cards.
