[RC] [Guest] Overnite to Pan Am/ Tank Repair/Endur. Truck - Ridecamp Moderator

Karen Nelson knelson@xxxxxxxxxx
First I would check with the Cottonwood Sales Yard. North of Red Bluff, South of Anderson/Redding. ON THE HIGHWAY, lots of room, and Branding Iron Restaurant. If you call them, they might accomodate you for a very small fee. I have stayed at similar places when chasing points in 1988. Very strong pens large enuf to let horses get some exercise.
If that doesn't work, I live east of Marysville near Grass Valley. I can accomodate a couple of horses/rigs. Lots of parking. You can cook/shower/ etc in house. I am about 35 miles east of Marysville, tho. Call me 530-274-8055.
Tank Repair- J B WELD works very well, it's cheap and easy to carry with you. Sand area thoroughly, and spray with carbuerator cleaner and wipe with a very clean cloth or paper towel as final prep. Let the 2 part JB Weld mix cure thoroughly before putting tank back into service. I use a toothpick or a strong plastic knife to mush into corners, etc. I mixed the 2 parts right on the tank.
Endurance truck. Mine is a 1976 Chevy 1-ton, 454 gas. I have over 315,000 miles on it. I don't get real good mileage pulling a 4 horse steel trailer with a large tack area, and a very large hay rack on it. BUT----I don't pay alot for the tags- $39/yr, the insurance with comprehensive and towing-the works- is about $48/mo, and the parts are VERY AVAILABLE. The paint is courtesy of Maaco, so when I go swinging thru the sage to park like on the XP, I don't cry about scratches. It really ain't pretty, but it gets me there. I had over 10,000 # loaded on that trailer when I left here for the start of the XP 2001.We
crawled over Donner Pass going east, but no hiccups.
