My first two endurance horses were a quarter and a paint.  The Paint was a
Sparkler Reed daughter, a line used for endurance in MN in the 70's, the
quarter was of Three Bars and other speed breeding.  Both held up fine.  The
required about 2 times the conditioning for the same performance.  They were
harder to cool in the hot midwest summers.

Bottom line: some quarters do fine, but the heavier bodies give some heat
problems.
