[RC] Converting fenders to leathers - Jonni Jewell

Has anyone converted a western type endurance saddle (Crates) fenders to
English type leathers. I'm trying to lighten up the weight of the saddle.<<<

I would pull off a fender and weigh it without the stirrup, to see just how
much weight we are trying to lighten up. I cannot imagine they weigh very
much at all. Just does not seem worth the effort. Depending on the horse's
build (big and round, or slab sided) and riders leg length, you may find
that your leg would rub on the girth rings without the fender. Shoot, give
it a try, not that tough to take them on and off. But again, how much weight
are we talking???
