My experience with titanium shoes was that they did not last as
long as steel shoes. At the time I tried them we were training on
rocky trails and gravel logging roads. I also noticed that they
didn't grip as well as the steel shoes and tended to give more slippage to
each foot fall. Doubt that was a very good thing and it certainly
made me feel a bit insecure, even on a catty horse. So after about 3
weeks of training and one desert ride either a 50 or an 80, not sure which
now, they were thin and I had them replaced with steel shoes.
Just my experience with titanium, leaving me with the opinion that they are
not what they are advertised to be, at least on gravel and rock. . . maybe
on sand or soft footing they'd be OK.
